Hogle Zoo

The girls love going to the Hogle zoo! It is so big and there are so many animals we don't have at our little Idaho Falls zoo. It was a really nice weather so we spent a lot of time there. We really enjoyed our day and even little Jonas was fascinated with all of the animals!

The girls are sitting on the trunk of the giant elephant statue! This statue periodically sprays water out of it's trunk, it is totally at random intervals so it is fun to watch the unsuspecting getting sprayed. We were entertained by this for quite awhile!

The elephants were a big hit with the girls, especially since we don't have elephants here at our zoo. We watched them eat for a long time. You can't see it in the picture but suspended above the elephants heads is a net full of hay that they reach up and eat from. It was really interesting watching them reach up for the hay and then they would gather up all the bits that fell on the ground with their trunks - it was really neat. We watched them eat lunch for a long long time! Of course Audrey would have to strike a pose! She is our little star - too funny!

Looks like the gorilla's got Audrey beat by a mile!

They have an endangered species carousel at the zoo. The animals are amazing - it is the neatest carousel I have ever seen - the last couple times we have come to the zoo we have ended our day by going for a ride on a endangered animal - the girls love it! Savannah chose a snow leopard.
Grace chose a zebra - Audrey chose a giraffe but none of the pictures of her turned out (sorry Audrey), they were blurry so next year she'll have to try it again and probably even Jonas will be big enough to join in! We had a wonderful day at the zoo and we can't wait to go back this fall!
