I came into the living room the other night to this beautiful sight, Savannah reading to her sisters! After I got over the initial shock of wondering how I got here?!?! A child old enough to read to her sisters!?! Where did my little girl go?? I pulled myself together and had to grab the camera! Savannah has become a really terrific reader and how fun for the little girls to have story time with big sis!! Moments like this are so precious to me as a mom! I sure love these little girlies!!

Story Time

Jonas' 1st Haircut
Jonas got his first haircut last week! He has had the most hair by for of any of my kiddos so boy or not this was the earliest haircut ever! I will admit I have snipped a few strands here and there over the last few months, ones that were growing weird and crazy, but this was his first official Uncle Mike with the clippers haircut! Uncle Mike is the official barber to all the nephews and there are are a lot of nephews 6 to be exact! This was a very exciting day for Jonas! I knew Jonas would LOVE it, of course he loves anything noisy! I was nervous that it would be ticklish and he is SO ticklish! But he got used to it quick! He loved his haircut and he did so good - I was so proud of him!
Here goes the first swipe! Way to go Jonas! You did so awesome!!
Uncle Mike is almost done! Notice I am not even holding him at this point- he didn't need me at all - he did perfect! He looks so handsome with his new short cut - thanks so much Uncle Mike!! New handsome picture to come soon!

Three-Year-Old Grace
So I have to give a little update on life with Grace as of late - this kid seriously - she is a lot of WORK!! So first for my sweet helpful side of Grace and then I'll move on to the more dominant wild troublemaking side of Grace!!
We have a fun Halloween count down calendar. It has little pockets and we fill it with a little treat to get everyday as we count our way to Halloween night. Grace and I went to the store and stocked up on treats and then when we got home she was so excited as she filled all the pockets with three treats in each. She was so cute counting them out and getting identical treats for each pocket. She took this job very serious! Ahh - that's so sweet but wait there is more to Grace than sweet . . .
Oh much much more! Now for the mischievous (that's the polite description - ya know) side of Grace - oh my this child!! She gives me a run for my money so much of the time! She is my most challenging three-year-old by a mile! So she gets this calendar all ready to go and then on more than one occasion she has been caught robbing a little treat for herself from the calendar! We have arrived at multiple days to find the treat short by one or two or missing all together!! More than once we have had tears shed over this dang calendar! Oh Brother!! She is definitely my let's see what trouble I can cause next child! Of course the missing candy is a complete mystery to her! Grace, Grace Grace!
OK so here I am typing this very entry on my little Grace and she just walked in my room and announced "mom, I had it with today!" and promptly turned and marched right back out of my room! Where on earth would she have gotten that line?!? But as I was saying some days with her are so hard right now and yet just as I am about ready to pull my hair out she entertains me some off the wall line that she no doubt heard from me! She keeps me so busy with little disasters here, there and everywhere! Just to name a few (yes, there are more than I will mention here) in the last couple of weeks - let's see . . . crayon all over the piano, melted red Popsicle on the couch and carpet, sugar all over the kitchen counter and floor, every pair of socks and panties that belonging to both her and Audrey were thrown all over their room, Styrofoam packing ripped into little pieces all over her room and the living room - now that stuff is a nightmare to vacuum up it is so static-y and clings to everything - oh man I better stop I am feeling exhausted again!
Anyway as I was saying naughty yes, super naughty (er . . . I mean mischievous:) in fact at times but also so sweet and cute and very serious about our Halloween festivities! Here she is so proud of her hard work! Life with Grace never EVER a dull moment! Wild child aside - I do love this little three-year-old of mine!

My Little Guy
A couple of weekends back Larren was upholstery cleaning the couches and Jonas was fascinated, so I snapped this photo of him working hard! I am constantly amazed at the difference between girls and boys especially at such an early age. Jonas is completely interested in anything that produces a loud noise or that his dad is doing so this was double right up his alley. He was at Larren's side the entire time! He would just grin and would squeal in protest whenever Larren shut it off! He loves daddy stuff and loud stuff!! Lawnmowers, trucks, motorcycles, power tools - anything loud he just can't get enough of - the girls at this age - they cried! He showed up all boy though, because obviously anything girlie still vastly outnumbers anything boyish at this house, but Jonas can take anything girlie and make it work for him! So cute! One of his favorite things is the iron that goes to the girls ironing board set, he pushes it on the carpet making loud car noises! So despite our home being overrun with girls we are raising a boy that is all boy! I have really enjoyed watching the differences between my girls and Jonas - it is so fun to experience both and I am so glad I get the opportunity! I love my little guy and he is so much fun so bring on the noise!!

Audrey's Hand
These pictures were taken September 21st. Audrey's accident was August 19th and her surgery was August 24th so these pictures are about a month post-op. We had an appointment with her Physical Therapist this day to get something called "cica-care" which is some sort of scar management treatment that we are to put on her hand every night. I had no idea what cica-care was, I sort of thought it would be some sort of cream - wrong! So here is my best description, it reminds me of those slimy sticky hand things that kids can get out of gum ball machines. They stick to walls and stuff - you know what I mean?!?! So anyway the Therapist cuts three custom pieces of this stuff for the top of her hand, a long skinny strip for her pinkie and a little square for her ring finger. Then she explains that this lovely product is super expensive (we're talking $800 a sheet - she probably gave us the equivalent of 1/3 of a sheet) so do not lose it! By the way it is clear and super super sticky and little!! She also told us to go home and take a picture of Audrey's hand and then compare the picture to her hand in two months and we would be amazed at the improvement! I'll update that part of the story later, hopefully it will live up to the hype!
OK so here is a funny little story regarding this pricey cica-care! So when Larren gets home form work that night I explain the whole cica-care information and especially that this stuff is pretty much worth it's weight in gold, so we have to guard it with our lives. So that night we put on the cica-care, wrap her hand, put her brace on - and off to bed she went. The next morning when she wakes up only two of the three pieces were still on her hand - uh oh panic attack! I search Audrey and her nightgown nothing. So I put her up to breakfast and Larren and I proceed to pick apart her bed bit by bit searching for this little clear piece of priceless cica-care. I am thinking "did we seriously lose this stuff after only one night!?" I couldn't believe it. So we're having no luck so now we are on our hands and knees searching her bedroom, seriously needle in a haystack. After what seems like forever, Audrey yells from the kitchen "I found it! It's in my hair!" Are you kidding me!?!
So after that fun-filled experience, we decided we'd rather not repeat it and the next night after putting on the cica-care we put a glove on her hand so that if it fell off in her sleep then we would be able to find it! This little hand of hers has been a never-ending adventure!

This is the top of her left arm near her elbow that was also burned but not severely enough to require a graft. This section has healed so well we are really amazed!

Eastern Idaho State Fair
One of our favorite fall activities is going to the Eastern Idaho State Fair in Blackfoot! We enjoy all of the fun and festivities. We spent the day with Emily and Ronan and my mom and Kendrik and Ashlyn. Ashlyn was baptised that morning and then went spent the afternoon and evening at the fair! Always more fun when you add extended family! Here is a glimpse of our fun day!
One of the kids' favorite parts of the fair is of course looking at all the animals! We stopped to watch these horses get a bath and we all laughed and laughed at the size difference! Two tiny miniature horses next to these massive work horses! So funny!

The girls all lined up watching cows being milked. Looks like it must be absolutely thrilling huh?!? They were more interested than their faces reflect! Really!
They all thought it was so funny that this little goat climbed right up in his feed bag! They came to the conclusion he must be REALLY hungry!
My handsome little guy! I am seriously in love with this baby! He loved all there was to see at the fair! He is so cute because he has fun little personality that is so expressive so we all know when he is having so much fun! Obviously the adverse is true - we know when he is not having fun too, however that doesn't happen too offen!
Ashlyn, Ronan, Audrey, Savannah, Jonas and Kendrik - where's Grace? She is the only one missing from the picture, she was running a quick errand with Larren at the time. But I just have to give a quick note of praise for all these kiddos - they were absolutely perfectly behaved, it was such a wonderful day, we all had so much fun spending time together!
According to my girls this is the sole reason for attending the fair! COTTON CANDY! YUMMY!! They love this stuff, as I know I did when I was a kid! I love their little sticky faces and fingers - evidence of a really delicious treat!
We were in the petting zoo and this Praying Mantis came out of nowhere and landed on Jonas! Jonas loved watching it climb all over him - Larren finally removed it - but it was on him for quite awhile! Jonas just squealed!
Grace feeding a goat - according to her it was "pretty slobbery and tickly!" This is my favorite look - she is loving it and having fun!
Kendrik! Just had to post my handsome nephew! He turned 11 the week after this picture was taken! This is truly one amazing kid! Love you Kendrik!
Jonas loved the petting zoo - he loves animals so this was exciting to so close and get to touch them!

Ahhhh! The perfect end of the day, exhausted happy kids! Here is Jonas snuggling his blankie and sucking his thumb - needless to say he fell sound asleep on the way home as did his sisters!
